Celebrate #WorldOceansDay with the Waitt Institute and Smithsonian’s Ocean Portal with a Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon!
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
We will start the day with an overview on how to edit Wikipedia pages from Sara Snyder of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Then we will dive into priority ocean pages that need some spiffing up.
Bring a laptop and your excitement for editing ocean-themed Wikipedia pages.
Anyone can do it! And we'll have people to help guide you (science folks and Wikimedia folks) and help if anyone gets stuck or needs some troubleshooting.
Prep: Please sign up for a Wikipedia account if you don’t already have one. Please note that accounts are for individuals only. No groups or institutional accounts.
